The Sim

The Santraginean Aquatic Research Annex was originally built to be part of the Santraginean Aquatic Recreation Area, a planned resort area meant to rival Risa. It would have a luxury hotel and as many activities and entertainment facilities as one could imagine.

But Santraginus V is 27 lightyears from the nearest trade route and even the best-laid plans go awry.

What is there now is a collection of buildings spread across a number of islands and a number of underwater labs that can be accessed via aquashuttle. It is an outpost that was built to the standards of a temporary outpost and then set to be used as a permanent installation.

Maui Island

Named for the second largest Hawaiian island on Earth, Maui is the largest inhabited island. It houses the main housing area, a collection of huts for the senior officers, and a couple of large dorm buildings for the NCOs. It has a large recreation area with a pub, a fitness center, a theater, numerous hiking trails that trace through the dense tropical jungle that makes up the bulk of the island and a couple that travel along the miles of beaches, and a large dance hall for activities ranging from Diplomatic events to even the occasional festival and dance.

Kauai Island

Named for the third largest Hawaiian island on Earth, Kauai is the second largest inhabited island and is where the majority of the science and research labs are located. It is located a couple of miles to the west of Maui and the water is shallow enough between them that it is possible to walk across. There is a shuttle that goes back and forth 4 times a day and a number of small boats make the trip as well. Besides the labs, it has a number of hiking trails and a small recreation area.

Oahu Island

Named for the fourth largest Hawaiian island on Earth, Oahu is home to mostly storage areas and a few labs. It is densely forested and is a prime location for researching local flora and fauna.

Molokal Island

Named for the fifth largest Hawaiian Island on Earth, Molokal is the last in the island inhabited islands of the chain. It is restricted to only scientists and a single local who was on the planet when Starfleet arrived 15 years ago and has a hut on the island.
